How a bulk letter mailing works
- Send your letter and list. A Word or PDF file for the letter, and an Excel or CSV file for the addresses. No list? You can buy a targeted one on our site.
- Approve a proof. You see exactly how the letter and envelope will look, with a sample name and address merged in, before anything prints.
- Print, fold and insert. We print each letter, personalize it, fold it and insert it with any return envelope or extra pages.
- Address, sort and mail. We check every address against USPS data, print the address and barcode, sort the envelopes for bulk rates and take them to the Post Office.

What is the minimum for a bulk mailing?
USPS discounted rates need at least 200 pieces (or 50 pounds) in a mailing. Below that you can still mail, but at regular First-Class postage.
First-Class or Marketing Mail: which should I use?
First-Class Mail is faster, is forwarded when someone moves, and is required for things like bills, statements and personal account information. USPS Marketing Mail costs less and works well for advertising and announcements. We'll tell you which one fits your mailing.
Do I need my own bulk mail permit?
