Printing only
If you'd rather take your postcards to the Post Office yourself, you can buy just the printing. The prices are the same as the printing part of a full mailing, and they apply to any of our postcard printing, not only EDDM®.
| Postcard size | 1,000 | 2,500 | 5,000 | 10,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6.25 × 9 in | $222 $0.22 each | $358 $0.14 each | $550 $0.11 each | $982 $0.10 each |
| 6.25 × 11 in (most popular) | $303 $0.30 each | $489 $0.20 each | $753 $0.15 each | $1,348 $0.13 each |
| 8.5 × 11 in | $419 $0.42 each | $708 $0.28 each | $1,182 $0.24 each | $2,122 $0.21 each |
Where the money goes
Here is the 6.25 × 11 inch postcard to 2,500 homes, split into its three parts:
| Printing | $489 |
| USPS postage ($0.26 × 2,500) | $650 |
| Bundling, paperwork and drop-off | $100 |
| Total | $1,239 ($0.50 per home) |
Postage is the biggest part, and it is fixed by USPS. It is also the same for every EDDM® size, so moving up from a 6.25 × 9 to a 6.25 × 11 inch postcard only adds printing cost. For most businesses the extra room for a clear offer and a photo is worth it, which is why 6.25 × 11 is the size we recommend most.
Five ways to lower your cost per home
- Send more at once. The printing price per piece drops sharply from 1,000 to 5,000. If you plan to mail the same area twice, printing both rounds together is cheaper.
- Pick the right size. The 6.25 × 9 inch postcard is the lowest-cost EDDM® size and works well for a simple offer.
- Skip businesses. If you only sell to households, mail to residential addresses only. Every business address you skip saves a piece.
- Choose routes, not whole ZIP Codes. Our EDDM® route planner shows the homes, income and age on each carrier route, so you can leave out neighborhoods that don't fit your customers.
- Mail the same homes again. People often respond to the second or third postcard, not the first. A smaller area mailed several times usually beats a big area mailed once.
Is EDDM® worth the cost?
A quick way to decide is to work out how many new customers pay for the mailing. Take the 2,500-home example at $1,239. If a new customer is worth $250 in profit to you, five customers cover the whole campaign. That is a response from 1 in 500 homes, and everyone after that is profit, plus the repeat business they bring.
EDDM® is the lowest-cost way to reach every home in an area, because you don't buy a mailing list and the postage is lower than addressed mail. It is the wrong choice when your customers are a narrow group spread across a wide area, like owners of a certain type of home or a specific kind of business. Then a targeted mailing list wastes fewer pieces, even though each one costs more. Our guide What is EDDM®? compares the two in detail.
Frequently asked questions
How much does EDDM® cost per piece?
With printing, postage and mailing included, EDDM® runs about $0.40 to $0.72 per home with us, depending on the postcard size and how many you send. The popular 6.25 × 11 inch postcard to 2,500 homes is $1,239, or $0.50 each.
How much is EDDM® postage in 2026?
USPS EDDM® postage is about $0.26 per piece in 2026. It is the same for every eligible size up to 3.3 ounces, so a bigger postcard costs more to print but nothing more to mail. We charge postage at cost.
Is there a minimum order?
Our published prices start at 1,000 pieces. USPS requires at least 200 pieces for an EDDM® mailing, so if you need fewer than 1,000, ask us for a quote.
Can I just buy the printing and mail it myself?
Yes. The print-only prices below are what you pay for the postcards. You then bundle them, fill out the USPS paperwork and pay the postage at your local Post Office yourself. EDDM® Retail allows up to 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day.
Why does the price per piece drop with quantity?
Most of the cost of a print run is setting up the press. The more postcards share that setup, the less each one costs. Postage stays the same per piece at any quantity.
