Why new movers
Neighborhoods never stop changing. In 2024, 11.8% of Americans moved to a different home, a little more than 1 in 9 people (US Census Bureau). Some move again a year later, others stay for decades, but every year a fresh group arrives on your streets.
Most of what people buy close to home is habit: the same café, the same pizza place, the same dry cleaner. Moving breaks every one of those habits at once. For a few months, a new neighbor is open to trying everyone, and the first friendly hello often decides where they go for years.
A card in the mailbox reaches them at home, while they're unpacking and figuring out the neighborhood. A free offer gives them a reason to come in this week, not someday.
How First Hello™ works
- Pick your distance and your free offer. Choose how far around your business to welcome people (1, 2 or 3 miles, or a few ZIP Codes) and what you'd like to give them.
- We design your card. A 6 × 11 postcard on thick 16pt card with your logo, photos, offer and address. You approve a proof before anything prints.
- Every month, we mail the new neighbors. Our list supplier gives us the households that moved in around you in the last month. We print, address and mail a card to each one.
- They bring the card in. Count the cards at the register and you know exactly how many new neighbors each month brought you.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the new mover list come from?
From our national mailing list supplier. Every month it adds the households that have just moved in. We pull the ones within your distance, so each card goes to a real new neighbor.
Does the offer have to be free?
We recommend it. A free coffee, scoop or trim with nothing to buy is the easiest yes for someone who has never heard of you, and it gets them through the door. Once they're in, your business does the rest.
How much will it cost me each month?
It depends on how many people move in near you. Use the counter above: it shows last month's new movers at 1, 2 and 3 miles, or by ZIP Code, and the monthly cost at $2.75 or $2.25 a card.
How do I know it's working?
Ask people to bring the card in. Count the cards at the register each month and you'll know exactly how many new neighbors came in, and what each one spent.
Can I change my offer later?
Yes. You can change the offer or the design between months. We send a new proof before the next mailing.
Do you only work in San Diego County?
No. We're based in San Marcos, California, and we can mail First Hello™ cards to new movers anywhere in the United States.
