Electrician direct mail in Point Loma:
a neighborhood-by-neighborhood plan

By Best Direct Mail, San Marcos · Numbers from USPS, the US Census Bureau and the California DMV

Point Loma is part of the City of San Diego, on the peninsula between San Diego Bay and the ocean. It has its own ZIP Codes: 92106 for Point Loma proper and 92107 for Ocean Beach and the Point Loma Heights side.

Almost every home here is close to salt water, and many are older, from small cottages to 1940s through 60s homes to large hillside homes with views. Below is what we'd mail where, starting with the public numbers for each ZIP Code.

Home age, homeownership and home value are US Census Bureau American Community Survey 5-year estimates for the ZIP Code area. New movers are a US Census Bureau American Community Survey 5-year estimate: residents who moved into a different home in the past year, turned into households and divided by 12. Electric cars are battery-electric passenger vehicles registered with the California DMV as of January 1, 2026.

New movers: on average about 310 households move to a new home in these ZIP Codes every month. New owners often remodel, add chargers and fix what the inspection found in their first months.

What a mailing costs: $2,682 for 5,000 homes with our recommended 8.5 × 11 EDDM® postcard, including printing and postage. See our EDDM® prices for other quantities.

What to mail in each neighborhood

La Playa and Roseville, near the bay (92106)

Along the bay side, La Playa and Roseville have some of the oldest homes on the peninsula, mixed with newer rebuilds near the marinas and Shelter Island. Salt air and older wiring are the main issues here.

  • Salt air corrosion on outdoor panels, meters, outlets and fixtures.
  • Rewiring older homes and replacing original panels.
  • Dock and outdoor wiring rated for wet, salty air.

The Wooded Area and the Fleetridge hills (92106)

Up the hill, the Wooded Area and Fleetridge have larger homes on steep, tree-lined lots, many with views of the bay, the city or the ocean. Owners here invest in lighting, remodels and backup power.

  • Lighting design for view decks, paths, pools and landscaping.
  • Home batteries and generators for outage days.
  • Service upgrades for large remodels and additions.

Homes here are spread out, so a homeowner list filtered by home value can reach these properties more precisely than whole carrier routes.

Point Loma Heights and Sunset Cliffs (92107)

Point Loma Heights and the streets toward Sunset Cliffs are mostly single-family homes from the 1940s through the 60s, many with ocean views and many still on their original panels. Being this close to the ocean, outdoor equipment wears out fast.

  • Panel upgrades, with a set price for an inspection.
  • Older panel brands. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels were installed in many homes of this era. A card showing what they look like gets homeowners to check.
  • Salt air repairs for meters, outdoor outlets and lights near the cliffs.

Ocean Beach cottages and rentals (92107)

Ocean Beach is full of small beach cottages, duplexes and apartments, and a large share of them are rented. Many cottages are old, with small panels and tired wiring, but the owner is often a landlord who lives somewhere else.

  • Panel and wiring upgrades for older cottages and rentals.
  • Salt air repairs on outdoor equipment a few blocks from the sand.
  • ADU wiring for owners adding a unit behind the main cottage.

A homeowner list reaches the owners of these properties, even when they don't live in Ocean Beach.

A first Point Loma mailing plan

  1. Panel upgrades to Point Loma Heights. Mail an 8.5 × 11 EDDM® postcard to the owner-occupied routes. Pick them in our EDDM® route planner for 92107.
  2. Salt air repairs to the bay side. Mail an 8.5 × 11 EDDM® postcard to the routes in La Playa and Roseville in our EDDM® route planner for 92106.
  3. Lighting and backup power to the hills. Mail a 6 × 11 postcard to a homeowner list of higher-value homes in the Wooded Area and Fleetridge.

Point Loma is home to many Navy families, and homes change hands often. A small monthly mailing to new movers puts your name in front of new owners before they pick an electrician. Mail each group at least three times, a few weeks apart, and use a different offer code on each card so you can see which neighborhood and which service brings the calls.

EDDM® or a mailing list in Point Loma?

Which one is better depends on the neighborhood. In Point Loma Heights and much of 92106, many homes are owner-occupied, so EDDM® reaches nearly the same people as a list for less. In Ocean Beach, where so many homes are rented, and in the hills, where homes are far apart, a homeowner list is more precise. Check the homeowner number for each ZIP Code in the table above, and tell us the areas you want and we'll recommend the right mix.

What to put on a Point Loma postcard

  • Show salt air damage. A photo of a rusted meter or outdoor panel gets beach homeowners to go look at their own.
  • Photos of your best finished work, especially view lighting and remodels for the hills.
  • Your California contractor license number, which the law requires in advertising, plus "licensed and insured".
  • One service and one offer per card, matched to the neighborhood above.

Frequently asked questions

How many homes are there to mail in Point Loma?

The table above shows the homes and carrier routes in 92106 and 92107, straight from the USPS EDDM® route map. 92107 also covers Ocean Beach. Most electricians don't mail them all at once: they pick 2,500 to 5,000 homes in the neighborhoods that fit the service they want to sell.

Is Ocean Beach part of Point Loma?

Ocean Beach is its own community, but it sits on the Point Loma peninsula and shares the 92107 ZIP Code with Point Loma Heights. Both are inside the City of San Diego.

Does salt air really damage electrical equipment?

Yes. Close to the ocean and the bay, salt in the air corrodes outdoor panels, meters, outlets and fixtures much faster than inland. On the Point Loma peninsula, almost every home is close to salt water.

Do you mail in Point Loma?

Yes. We print from our shop in San Marcos and take EDDM® mailings to the Post Offices that deliver your Point Loma routes.
