Dental direct mail in Chula Vista:
a new patient plan for dentists
By Best Direct Mail, San Marcos · Numbers from USPS and the US Census Bureau
Chula Vista is the second-largest city in San Diego County, and for a dentist it is two cities in one. West of I-805 are neighborhoods from the 1950s through the 70s, where many residents have lived for decades and families look closely at cost and insurance. East of it are Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Millenia, master-planned communities still growing, where young families and military households arrive every month and need a dentist.
Each side answers a different postcard. Below we start with the public numbers for each of the five ZIP Codes, including how many new movers arrive in an average month, then go neighborhood by neighborhood: who lives there, which services fit and how to mail them. After that come a new movers plan, a year of mailings and what every dental postcard in California should include.

Chula Vista by ZIP Code
| ZIP Code | Homes (routes) | Households with children | Median household income | New movers a month (average) | Residents 65 or older |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 91910 Northwest Chula Vista, downtown, Hilltop and Rancho del Rey | 28,162 (46) | 35% | $90,222 | about 192 | 16% |
| 91911 Southwest Chula Vista, Castle Park and Otay | 26,378 (45) | 41% | $82,350 | about 157 | 15% |
| 91913 Eastlake and Otay Ranch | 20,194 (22) | 45% | $129,337 | about 126 | 11% |
| 91914 Eastlake, Rolling Hills Ranch and San Miguel Ranch | 5,010 (7) | 55% | $190,786 | about 25 | 11% |
| 91915 Otay Ranch and Millenia | 12,104 (13) | 52% | $139,503 | about 104 | 8% |
What the columns tell you:
- Households with children: where a family practice, children's checkups and back-to-school cards will do best.
- Median household income: higher incomes point to cosmetic work, aligners and implants. Lower incomes point to clear prices, payment plans and the insurance you take.
- New movers a month: about how many households move to a new home in the ZIP Code in an average month. This is the size of your monthly new movers mailing.
- Residents 65 or older: where implant, denture and consultation cards belong.
These figures cover whole ZIP Codes, and single routes inside them can be quite different. Our EDDM® route planner shows income, age, household size and the share of families with children for every route before you choose.
Homes and carrier routes are from the USPS EDDM® route map. Households with children, income, new movers and residents 65 or older are US Census Bureau American Community Survey 5-year estimates for the ZIP Code area. New movers a month is the number of residents who moved into a different home in the past year, turned into households and divided by 12.
New movers: on average about 600 households move to a new home in these ZIP Codes every month. Many of them will be looking for a new dentist.
What a mailing costs: $2,682 for 5,000 homes with our recommended 8.5 × 11 EDDM® postcard, including printing and postage. See our EDDM® prices for other quantities.
What to mail in each neighborhood
Northwest Chula Vista, Third Avenue and Hilltop (91910)
North of L Street and west of I-805, the streets around Third Avenue, Hilltop Drive and up toward Bonita are mostly single-family homes from the 1950s and 60s, with apartments closer to downtown. Many residents have been here for decades and are now retired, and many have kept the same dentist for years.
- What to offer: implants, dentures and repairs, a free consultation, and whether you accept Medicare Advantage dental plans. A service their current dentist may not offer wins them, not a cleaning special.
- Timing: September, before the holidays and the year-end benefits rush.
- How to mail: EDDM® on the routes that are mostly houses, or a list filtered by age to reach older adults across the west side.

Southwest Chula Vista, Castle Park and Otay (91911)
South of L Street and west of I-805, Castle Park, Otay and the streets along Broadway and Palomar Street have small 1950s and 60s houses, duplexes, apartments and several mobile home parks. It is a neighborhood of working families with children, where cost and accepted insurance decide which dentist they call.
- What to offer: a clear new patient price, children seen, and the plans you accept, including Medi-Cal Dental if you take it. Saturday hours help.
- Language: many households here speak Spanish at home. If your team speaks Spanish, a card with English on one side and Spanish on the other, and "se habla español" on the front, reaches every household without a second mailing.
- How to mail: EDDM® to the routes closest to your office. Renters need a dentist too, so whole routes work here for a dental card.

Eastlake (91913 and 91914)
Eastlake was built from the late 1980s through the 2000s around its lake and golf course, in villages such as Eastlake Shores, the Greens, the Woods and the Trails. Most homes are owner-occupied family homes, and many parents have dental insurance through work or through military service at the South Bay bases.
- What to offer: one practice for the whole family, children's checkups and sealants, and aligners or whitening for the parents. Say whether you accept the TRICARE Dental Program, which many military family members use.
- Timing: back-to-school checkups in July and August, and "use your benefits before they reset" in October and November.
- How to mail: EDDM®. Nearly every home is a family that could be your patient, so whole routes are the cheapest way to reach them.

Otay Ranch and Millenia (91913 and 91915)
Otay Ranch is a master plan of villages built from the late 1990s and still growing east, with Millenia as its urban center of townhomes, condos and apartments. Many homes are only a few years old, and new residents arrive every month: young families, young professionals and military households on new orders.
- What to offer: a simple new patient offer, whitening, online booking and evening hours for the townhomes and apartments of Millenia, and a family offer for the single-family villages.
- How to mail: new movers every month first. Then EDDM® to the villages nearest your office, where most homes are young families.

Rolling Hills Ranch and San Miguel Ranch (91914)
In the hills of northeast Chula Vista, Rolling Hills Ranch and San Miguel Ranch have larger homes from the late 1990s and 2000s, many on bigger lots next to open space. Incomes tend to be higher here, and residents are more interested in cosmetic work and in a practice with the newest technology.
- What to offer: whitening, veneers, aligners and implants with a free consultation, and before and after photos of your own patients, used with permission.
- How to mail: EDDM® to the routes with the highest incomes in the table above, or a list filtered by household income to add similar homes in Eastlake.

New movers in Chula Vista: a monthly mailing
Moving is one of the main reasons people change dentists, and Chula Vista sees a lot of moving. New homes in Otay Ranch, apartments in Millenia and Navy families arriving on orders bring new households every month. The table above shows about how many households move to a new home in each ZIP Code in an average month.
- Choose the area: the new movers within a few miles of your office. On the east side, that is usually a few villages and neighborhoods across two or three ZIP Codes.
- Mail every month: each card reaches people within their first weeks in a new home, while they are still choosing.
- Make it a welcome: "Welcome to Chula Vista" with your new patient offer, the insurance you take, including TRICARE Dental if you accept it, and how to book.
See how many new movers are on file around your office in our mailing list planner, or ask us for a monthly price. We print and mail them for you every month.

EDDM® or a mailing list in Chula Vista?
It depends on how many of the homes on a route could become your patients:
- EDDM® for the neighborhoods around your office. Almost every household needs a dentist, renters included, so for a general or family practice most homes nearby are possible patients. EDDM® reaches them all at the lowest cost per card, on either side of I-805.
- A mailing list for a narrower service. Implants fit older adults on the west side, cosmetic work fits the higher-income hills in the east. A list filtered by age, income or children reaches them across the city without paying for every home in between.
- New movers every month, on top of either one.
A year of dental mailings in Chula Vista
| When | Who gets it | What the card says |
|---|---|---|
| Every month | New movers around your office | Welcome to the neighborhood, with your new patient offer, the insurance you take and your hours |
| January to February | The neighborhoods closest to your office | New year, new dental benefits: book your cleaning and exam |
| March to April | Higher-income neighborhoods | Whitening and cosmetic work before spring weddings, graduations and summer photos |
| July to August | Family neighborhoods | Back-to-school checkups and sealants for kids |
| September | Neighborhoods with many older residents | Implants, dentures and a free consultation |
| October to November | Your own patients, then the nearby neighborhoods | Use your dental benefits before they reset on January 1 |
You don't need every mailing. Most Chula Vista practices start with the monthly new movers card and one neighborhood mailing, then add the others once they see which brings in patients. Our dental direct mail guide has more offer ideas for each one.

What every Chula Vista dental postcard should include
- The dentist or practice name, so it is clear who is offering the service. Dental advertising in California must not be false or misleading.
- "Specialist" only for real specialists. An orthodontist or oral surgeon can say so. A general dentist who offers implants or aligners should describe the service without suggesting a specialty.
- Offers spelled out: what a new patient special includes, who it is for (new patients only, patients without insurance) and when it ends.
- No waived co-pays or deductibles as an offer. That can break dental plan contracts and insurance rules.
- The plans you accept, including Medi-Cal Dental if you take it. For many families it is the first thing they check.
- Where you are in Chula Vista, with a landmark people know, your hours and whether you see children, evenings or Saturdays.
These are general points, not legal advice. Your dental association or a healthcare attorney can confirm the exact wording of your offer, and we adjust any design to match.

Frequently asked questions
How many new movers are there in Chula Vista each month?
The table above shows about how many households move to a new home in each Chula Vista ZIP Code in an average month, from US Census Bureau estimates. It is a good guide to the size of a monthly new movers mailing. The exact count for the area around your office is in our mailing list planner.
Where should a family dentist mail in Chula Vista?
Start with the routes closest to your office, then the family neighborhoods in the table: the ZIP Codes with the most households with children. Eastlake and the single-family villages of Otay Ranch are the easiest to reach by EDDM®, because most homes there are families.
Where should I mail implant and denture postcards in Chula Vista?
Northwest Chula Vista, around Third Avenue, Hilltop and the streets toward Bonita, has many long-time, older residents and is easy to reach by EDDM®. To reach older adults elsewhere in the city, use a mailing list filtered by age.
Should I mail dental postcards in Spanish in Chula Vista?
It can help, if your team speaks Spanish. Many Chula Vista households speak Spanish at home, and a card with English on one side and Spanish on the other reaches every household on the route without a second mailing. Only promise Spanish if patients will find a Spanish speaker when they call.
Do you serve Chula Vista?
Yes. Our print shop is in San Marcos, and we print and mail for dental practices across San Diego County, including Chula Vista. We take EDDM® mailings to the Post Offices that deliver your routes.
