Dental direct mail in Escondido:
a new patient plan for dentists
By Best Direct Mail, San Marcos · Numbers from USPS and the US Census Bureau
Escondido is the largest inland city in North County, and its patients are as varied as its neighborhoods. Families who rent near downtown and along Mission Avenue look closely at price and insurance. Retirees in Hidden Meadows and the mobile home parks want implants and dentures from someone they trust. Professionals in Rancho San Pasqual and Harmony Grove want aligners for their teens and whitening for themselves.
One card can't speak to all of them. Below we start with the public numbers for each of the four ZIP Codes, including how many new movers arrive in an average month, then go neighborhood by neighborhood: who lives there, which services fit and how to mail them. After that come a new movers plan, a year of mailings and what every dental postcard in California should include.

Escondido by ZIP Code
| ZIP Code | Homes (routes) | Households with children | Median household income | New movers a month (average) | Residents 65 or older |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 92025 Downtown, Old Escondido and south Escondido | 16,798 (25) | 37% | $81,106 | about 141 | 13% |
| 92026 North Escondido, the Country Club area and Hidden Meadows | 18,923 (25) | 31% | $104,561 | about 156 | 17% |
| 92027 East Escondido, Rancho San Pasqual and Eureka Springs | 17,374 (23) | 37% | $93,338 | about 134 | 13% |
| 92029 West Escondido, Harmony Grove and Elfin Forest | 8,013 (14) | 27% | $124,726 | about 70 | 22% |
What the columns tell you:
- Households with children: where a family practice, children's checkups and back-to-school cards will do best.
- Median household income: higher incomes point to cosmetic work, aligners and implants. Lower incomes point to clear prices, payment plans and the insurance you take.
- New movers a month: about how many households move to a new home in the ZIP Code in an average month. This is the size of your monthly new movers mailing.
- Residents 65 or older: where implant, denture and consultation cards belong.
These figures cover whole ZIP Codes, and single routes inside them can be quite different. Our EDDM® route planner shows income, age, household size and the share of families with children for every route before you choose.
Homes and carrier routes are from the USPS EDDM® route map. Households with children, income, new movers and residents 65 or older are US Census Bureau American Community Survey 5-year estimates for the ZIP Code area. New movers a month is the number of residents who moved into a different home in the past year, turned into households and divided by 12.
New movers: on average about 500 households move to a new home in these ZIP Codes every month. Many of them will be looking for a new dentist.
What a mailing costs: $2,682 for 5,000 homes with our recommended 8.5 × 11 EDDM® postcard, including printing and postage. See our EDDM® prices for other quantities.
What to mail in each neighborhood
Central and south Escondido (92025 and 92027)
Between downtown and the hills, much of the city was built after World War II: tract homes, duplexes, apartment complexes and many of the city's mobile home parks. Many households here are families with children, many rent, and many speak Spanish at home.
- What to offer: a clear new patient price, children seen, and the plans you accept, including Medi-Cal Dental if you take it. Saturday hours and staff who speak Spanish are worth putting on the card if you have them.
- How to mail: EDDM® to the routes closest to your office. Families here choose a dentist they can reach in a few minutes, and nearly every household needs one. A card in English on one side and Spanish on the other reaches the whole route in one mailing.

Downtown and Old Escondido (92025)
Around Grand Avenue and south into the Old Escondido historic district, Victorian and Craftsman homes sit next to apartments, new downtown housing and the shops and restaurants along Grand. Young couples buying their first old house live a block from renters and long-time owners.
- What to offer: a friendly new patient special with whitening, and online booking. Point out that you are a short walk or drive from downtown.
- How to mail: new movers every month, plus EDDM® on the routes inside the historic district if your office is nearby. Downtown has many people moving in and out, and the new arrivals are the ones looking.

North Escondido and the Country Club area (92026)
North of downtown, owner-occupied family neighborhoods from the 1960s through the 90s spread toward the hills, around the former Escondido Country Club, where new homes are now being added. Families with children live next to owners who have been here for decades.
- What to offer: one practice for the whole family, children's checkups and sealants, and crowns and implants for the parents and grandparents.
- Timing: back-to-school checkups in July and August.
- How to mail: EDDM®. Most homes are houses with owners who live in them, which makes north Escondido one of the best fits for low-cost route mail in the city.

Rancho San Pasqual and Eureka Springs (92027)
In the eastern foothills, Rancho San Pasqual is a gated golf community from the late 1990s, and Eureka Springs, near Lake Dixon, is a newer HOA neighborhood of family homes. Households here tend to have higher incomes, dental insurance through work and teenagers who need straighter teeth.
- What to offer: aligners for teens and adults, whitening and veneers, with a free consultation. Before and after photos of your own patients, used with permission, sell these services best.
- How to mail: EDDM® on the routes that serve each community. Gated communities still get carrier delivery, so EDDM® reaches every home inside.

Harmony Grove and west Escondido (92029)
West of the city, toward San Marcos, Harmony Grove Village is a newer master-planned community full of young families, surrounded by horse properties and custom homes in the canyons of Harmony Grove and Elfin Forest. Many households moved here in the last few years and are still settling on a dentist.
- What to offer: a family welcome with new patient offers, children's checkups and evening or Saturday hours.
- How to mail: EDDM® in Harmony Grove Village, where nearly every home is a family that could be your patient. For the rural homes around it, a list filtered by income or children.

New movers in Escondido: a monthly mailing
Moving is one of the main reasons people look for a new dentist. In Escondido that happens every month, in the apartments downtown and along the main boulevards, in first homes bought in the older tracts and in the new homes of Harmony Grove and the old country club. The table above shows about how many households move to a new home in each ZIP Code in an average month.
- Choose the area: the new movers within a few miles of your office, usually the nearest two or three Escondido ZIP Codes, plus San Marcos or Valley Center if you are close to them.
- Mail every month: each card reaches people within their first weeks in a new home, while they are still choosing.
- Make it a welcome: "Welcome to Escondido" with your new patient offer, the insurance you take and how to book, in Spanish too if your office serves Spanish speakers.
See how many new movers are on file around your office in our mailing list planner, or ask us for a monthly price. We print and mail them for you every month.

EDDM® or a mailing list in Escondido?
With four ZIP Codes and very different neighborhoods, most Escondido practices use both:
- EDDM® for the neighborhoods around your office. Almost every household needs a dentist, and in central Escondido renters are patients too. EDDM® reaches every home on the route at the lowest cost per card, and it suits north Escondido, Harmony Grove Village and the gated communities just as well.
- A mailing list for a narrower service. Implants, cosmetic work or orthodontics fit only some households. A list filtered by age, income or children reaches them across all four ZIP Codes without paying for every home in between.
- New movers every month, on top of either one.
A year of dental mailings in Escondido
| When | Who gets it | What the card says |
|---|---|---|
| Every month | New movers around your office | Welcome to the neighborhood, with your new patient offer, the insurance you take and your hours |
| January to February | The neighborhoods closest to your office | New year, new dental benefits: book your cleaning and exam |
| March to April | Higher-income neighborhoods | Whitening and cosmetic work before spring weddings, graduations and summer photos |
| July to August | Family neighborhoods | Back-to-school checkups and sealants for kids |
| September | Neighborhoods with many older residents | Implants, dentures and a free consultation |
| October to November | Your own patients, then the nearby neighborhoods | Use your dental benefits before they reset on January 1 |
You don't need every mailing. Most Escondido practices start with the monthly new movers card and one neighborhood mailing, then add the others once they see which brings in patients. Our dental direct mail guide has more offer ideas for each one.

What every Escondido dental postcard should include
- The dentist or practice name, so it is clear who is offering the service. Dental advertising in California must not be false or misleading.
- "Specialist" only for real specialists. An orthodontist or oral surgeon can say so. A general dentist who offers implants or aligners should describe the service without suggesting a specialty.
- Offers spelled out: what a new patient special includes, who it is for (new patients only, patients without insurance) and when it ends.
- No waived co-pays or deductibles as an offer. That can break dental plan contracts and insurance rules.
- The plans you accept, including Medi-Cal Dental if you take it. For many families it is the first thing they check.
- Where you are in Escondido, with a landmark people know, your hours and whether you see children, evenings or Saturdays.
These are general points, not legal advice. Your dental association or a healthcare attorney can confirm the exact wording of your offer, and we adjust any design to match.

Frequently asked questions
How many new movers are there in Escondido each month?
The table above shows about how many households move to a new home in each Escondido ZIP Code in an average month, from US Census Bureau estimates. It is a good guide to the size of a monthly new movers mailing. The exact count for the area around your office is in our mailing list planner.
Where should a family dentist mail in Escondido?
Start with the routes closest to your office, then the family neighborhoods in the table: the ZIP Codes with the most households with children. North Escondido and Harmony Grove Village are easy to reach by EDDM®, and central Escondido has many families who choose a dentist close to home.
Where should I mail implant and denture postcards in Escondido?
Hidden Meadows and the senior mobile home parks have many older residents and are easy to reach by EDDM®. To reach older adults elsewhere in the city, use a mailing list filtered by age.
Should my Escondido postcard be in Spanish?
It can help. Many Escondido households speak Spanish at home, especially in central and south Escondido. A card in English on one side and Spanish on the other reaches everyone on the route in one mailing. Only promise Spanish-speaking staff if you have them.
Do you serve Escondido?
Yes. Our print shop is in San Marcos, next door to Escondido, and we print and mail for dental practices across San Diego County, including Escondido. We take EDDM® mailings to the Post Offices that deliver your routes.
